Comprehensive Internal Medicine For Pets
A veterinary internal medicine specialist is proficient at diagnosing and treating conditions affecting the immune, cardiovascular, pulmonary, urinary, gastrointestinal, and endocrine systems in a safe, compassionate manner.
If your pet is exhibiting advanced symptoms that cannot be diagnosed by your primary vet, they can be referred to an internal medicine specialist for specialized care.
After a referral from your primary care vet, an internal medicine specialist will complete a thorough physical exam of your pet to formulate a diagnostic plan and create a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to your pet’s needs.
At Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island, we focus on a comprehensive, team approach to all internal medicine cases and work not only with your veterinarian but also with other specialists to ensure the best care for your pet.
Veterinary Internal Medicine Specialists
Internal medicine specialists have received extensive training in diagnosing and treating disorders of the internal systems. These specialists understand the complex relationship between a pet's internal systems and the diseases that can affect them.
Our Goal With Internal Medicine
Our emphasis is on efficient and accurate diagnosis using the least invasive measures possible. This often requires the expertise of our specialist staff and the advanced diagnostic equipment and procedures available at our medical center.
Our medical therapies and care are of the highest caliber and our specialists are devoted to healing with compassion. We are committed to staying on the cutting edge of veterinary medicine and offering that knowledge to our community.
We are proud of the mutual trust and respect that we have earned with area pet owners and veterinarians. We will do everything we can to hold ourselves to this standard for years to come.
A Collaborative Approach
Clear and effective communication is of the utmost importance to the relationships formed among our staff, our patients, their families and referring veterinarians.
The doctors of the internal medicine department call the families of all hospitalized patients on a daily basis, with additional updates given as needed. We also call and share reports with your family veterinarian an essential part of patient management to keep them in the loop as part of our team.
