Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island Policies

Visitation

We normally encourage visitation of pets that are hospitalized in our care to assist in the healing process. There are no set visitation hours in our 24-hour hospital, but we request that most visits be arranged between 10 AM and 10 PM. For your convenience, please call our staff to arrange your visit in advance.

As an emergency center, pets with critical needs sometimes require the full attention of our staff. In these circumstances your visit may be delayed. We appreciate your understanding and patience during these emergencies.

Communication
Our doctors phone each family of a hospitalized patient daily, typically between 9 AM and 12 PM. The doctors will also phone to provide additional medical updates as necessary. Owners are welcome to call for a nursing update in the evening hours. Your family veterinarian receives faxed medical reports and consults with our doctors by phone as well. It is essential that your family, your veterinarian, and our specialists work and communicate together to provide the best care for your pet.
